Surfeit of Hunger

im rather fond of clever turns of phrase

or rather what i imagine to be such things

a surfeit of hunger

an arrangement of concepts that came to me just now

im of a mind to better my health in two regards

fitness and diet

as to the latter

i am now craving a greasy meal

from a famous local diner

called Waffle House

Now in moderation such a thing

It can certainly aid in putting muscle on

But

The satisfaction of this craving

It’s a hunger in itself

A feeling of lack

I have been satisfied

There is one less thing that I wish to satisfy

What a pity!

isn’t it better to have a surfeit of hunger

at least sometimes

im sure im imagining myself to be more clever and original than i am

there must be someone who has either had this thought or this very turn of phrase

but why satisfy originality

and forget its craving?

Great Heart (Poem)

If you help somebody

It’s an accident

Cause the world is bloody

Never learn from precedent

It pulses and beats

In hollers and heats

Life flows down streets

Aorta greets

Whatever passes ‘long

Takes it through

Circulation washes right or wrong

You were there just there

And so was the moment

Don’t you know where

You paid the rent

You want the credit

That you’re living on

Always try to edit

Just to get along

So what’s it now

When the coronary

Shows we’ve nothing to sow

Kills your last canary

It’s an accident

Yea, you helped somebody

To see the sense in spent

yea it was dirty bloody

Great heart

You

Yea

You

And

That’s a start

No Way To Last (Poem)

asf

Yea.

I’m constantly wired.

Yea.

I’m hardly tired.

Yea.

It’s hard to the nth degree.

Yea.

This stream so fierce so free.

Yea.

Watch it hurtle me.

Yea.

Blur is all I see.

Woah.

Electronic.

Woah.

Pornographic.

Woah.

Everywhere.

Woah.

At once here and there.

No.

There’s not time to flip the page.

No.

There’s no time to feel my age.

No.

There’s no time to kiss.

No.

There’s no love to miss.

Yea.

Love takes time and love takes distance.

Yea.

It’s not possible in an instance.

Yea.

Load me up.

Yea.

More espresso in the cup.

Yea.

Carry on!

Yea.

Past today till life is gone!

Woah.

The screens don’t slow.

Woah.

I’ve got to go.

Woah.

Watch the updates flow.

Woah.

All at once all in a row.

No.

No time to sing.

No.

No time to give a friend a ring.

No.

No little notes on her doorstep.

No.

No time to prep.

Yea.

It’s all at once.

Yea.

It’s all already here ya dunce.

Yea.

One exploding instance.

Yea.

Can’t tell it’s static when it’s moving fast.

Yea.

There’s no past.

Yea.

Don’t linger.

Yea.

This pace don’t make a singer.

Yea.

This is the way it’s gotta be.

Yea.

One direction that’s what I call free.

Yea.

Over the edge.

Yea.

Don’t compose an adage.

Yea.

Don’t compose at all.

Yea.

Just fall.

Yea.

Fall fast.

Yea.

There’s no way to last.

Eyes on the East (Poem)

daffodils

O you voices of wonder….

Pour out your splendour !

All through the hills…

O sweet and tender!

Reedy and ready…

How the wind fills!

Various yet steady…

Eyes on the East!

Shine stars o shine…

From greatest to least!

All down the line…

Herald the dawn!

Impulse for dancing…

Sundays sweet fawn!

Tender is glancing…

Fresh wine is drawn!

O you voice of wonder…

Pour out your splendour!

Cast down your hilts…

Sing that great ardour!

That drones and that lilts…

It’s never harder!

Than at twilight…

But if faith will continue!

The Sun is our sight…

Shine on o shine on true!

Voices of wonder …

Pour out your splendour!

All through the hills…

Curtains are thrust back !

Exploding as Daffodils…

What I Mean (Poem)

Answers

You’re harshin my mellow baby

I don’t feel your vibe

You’re always maybe

That just ain’t my tribe

Well so

If you don’t dig it

You can go

I ain’t gotta fit

This ain’t no show

Why

There’s no reason

That you can’t try

It’s such a late season

Can’t you see that

Certainty

Isn’t a hat

At least not for me

If you want answers

Find someone who ain’t as free

Tow that line

If that’s your scene

I’ll be fine

Cause I don’t know what I mean

Daily Poem 3 – Alchemist’s Lament

Image result for alchemist

They want magic to come from  unknown places

As soon as the source is revealed

There’s a frown on their faces

Why! They collectively squealed.

I could have done that!

There’s no wonder

For I too have a rabbit and hat

Which leaves all us dancers annoyed

Is this philosophy that hard to know

That what God has most thorough enjoyed

Is that creatures of mud from mud gold can grow

Again Again (Original Lyrics and Song Demo)

The result of a brief little jam session I was able to squeeze in last night.

I made it on the fly and just now wrote down the lyrics for those who prefer poems to songs.

DAW (i guess it’s a DAW) – Audacity (Effects – compression, equalization, reverb (or echo IDR) )

Instruments – Guitar, Violin, Vocals

Lyrics

All the puzzle pieces are such familiar places

I use them to make traces of my past

And that’s the path I walk on

In repetitious circles

I just go round and round and round

Sometimes I think that

That I have found

 A line that is straight

But I’m still on the ground

I’m still going round

 O Yea

Wait a little while with me

Wait a little while and see

The magic of a symmetry

Of 3 and 6 and 0 degree

Is the wine any less fine

Just because you’ve tasted it

Once more

Once more

So come on by and knock on

And knock on my old door

So come on by and let’s sit

Let’s sit on my floor

Let’s pourout all the whiskey

Pour it into dirty cups

Let’s pull out a bit of a bit of something

That we never ever ever grow weary of

All these starry thoughts

Of forever… and above…. and beyond…. and between….

In the light of the trees

And the evenings cool cool cool breeze

I am waiting waiting you are waiting waiting

Why are waiting

Why are we frustrating

When we could

Be turning round as the wheel

And to feel what is real

Is the motion of eternal

Again … again

Drink the Wine (Poem and Song)

So you’ve got some wine and you’ve got some time

But you just won’t drink it in

Cause you’re always waiting for some dream to begin

Yea excuse you need an excuse for each and every use

Cause tasting grapes for the sake of life

Is a foul abuse

So you take a knife

And cut a portion

Carefully and gingerly

To keep up with the notion

That you’d better be so very spare with joy

Because you can’t stare at the common fact

That we’re a million miles from Troy

And each and every act Is a circle and a line

So you’ll sit and wait and wait and wait

And you won’t drink the wine

Miles From October (Super Rough Song Version)

Many of my poems start as little tunes I come up with to a simple chordy background.

On January 12th I dedicated my book The Sketch of Sam Monroe to Terrence McKenna. I had no idea that Dennis McKenna would be on the Joe Rogan Experience today. Which happens to be the day when I finish part one of the book a work spanning months and being some hundred pages in length.

I’ll continue to post on Tuesday and Thursday. The book is free to read on my website http://www.fractaljournal.com Hope you enjoy my barbaric little song (i felt like celebrating with a rough draft release) thanks so much for stopping by.

Miles from October (Poem)

I’m so terribly sober

Bone dry and miles from October

Baking in the southern air

Out here where the summers stare

One by one they are aligned

And their weapons are inclined

In morbid array

Pointing out the end of day

Day eh eh eh away o day

Where the waters no longer run

No prism is painted by the sun

I row – I row

I’m so terribly sober

Bone dry and miles from October

You sow

My sweet fictional tomorrow

You only beg and borrow

Time will show the circles full

As I row past

All Passing

Here there is no guessing

Where

I’m so terribly sober

Bone dry and miles from October

Well
