Just A Ramble

There’s a lot of foolishness afoot. As has always been. Thought it seems perhaps these days that there is more.

Everybody is simultaneously telling you to hustle and to know your place.

They’re telling you to be carefree and sexy but also traditional.

We must fight for what’s right but also be a peacenik.

We live in a deeply schizophrenic society.

And they wonder why mental illness is on the rise.

They implicate social media.

But have just barely figured out an operational definition of mental illness.

Think about the abstraction of a mental illness.

How is it distinct from the physiological?

These are fundamental questions barely answered by our most stellar thinkers.

And yet we’re implicating social media in the diagnosis?

Towards such a point that we ban Tik Tok?

What if it’s actually more of a litmus test?

Simply something that reveals a much deeper problem.

There’s always been a lot of genuflecting before the ‘greatest generation.’

Boy howdy they sure had moxy!

Yeah…and two back to back world wars as well as the birth of Communism, Fascism, and Nazism.

Then there was Vietnam.

Then there was Charlie Rose with McNamara saying the domino theory of war of American Weltenschaunskreig doesn’t work.

Then there was Iraq. Twice.

We were in Afghanistan for twenty years.

All of this and the alienation it fosters was well before the ascendency of Facebook circa 2006.

So the rise of mental illness may not be a rise at all.

It might just be something that’s been glaringly apparent since the dawn of time.

It just took some silly dances and whacky identity politics to unearth.

Thanks to social media.

A reflection of society.

TFS 49 – Internet Busybodies prove Peter Hitchens Concerns

Peter Hitchens does a rather excellent job of describing our decline. It is not the moralist’s self-righteous ramblings that Hitchens brings to the table. But, rather a very tangible, quantifiable, decay in standards and practices that affect everything from personal interactions to jurisprudence.

Just today whilst on a check-out line, the gentleman ahead of me announced to the cashier how he was part of a Facebook group that ‘spied on crazy people.’

I discuss why this Stasi like behavior is concerning and tie it to Hitchens admonishments.

Finally, I launch into a discussion of Peter Hitchen’s 2018 appearance on Good Morning Britain. Thanks, for listening.

TFS 45 – Eastern Europe, My Politics, Bob Lazar Body Language, and Funny Hats

Ok, so first the lineup:

0 – 8 min : The why and how of my interest in Eastern European politics. With some discussion of my strict originalist Constitutionalism. Why global tensions are a threat to that position etc.

8 – 9:12 min : Talk about this Bob Lazar body language analysis video:

9:12 – end: I practice ‘social courage’ by wearing a funny hat and discuss the result

In this installment of the stream of consciousness show from my shitposting channel, I get into why I give a fuck about Eastern Europe.

Why should I as a United States citizen, homeowner, and patriot give a fuck about a bunch of bickering Gypsies and Slavs?

Ok, so I’m originally from Russia. But I’m pretty fucking comfortable and have basically been marinated in Americana since I was eight years old. The family I was adopted into having roots in the country going back to before the Civil War.

So, why do I get so up in arms about nations that will probably never be able to fully adopt the enlightenment principles I hold dear?

Well, as global economic tensions rise and converge with tribal tensions exacerbated by corporate media and powerful business interests THAT DOESN’T BODE WELL FOR STABILITY.

And stability is precisely what’s required for us to be able to pursue those things higher up on Maslow’s hierarchy.

Besides even gopniks will eventually crave a white picket fence and 2.5 kids who suck at piano. But, that craving will be somewhat dampened if people that claim to represent us keep being a global bar fly and playing the game of ‘let’s you and him fight.’

Dude! This Bob Lazar shit has me losing my mind. He’s so believable. What do you think alien life/technology/time travel mean for metaphysics?! Mind is so fucking blown. Gonna steal all his shit and use it in story after story.

Heard Peter Hitchens mention social courage so I decided to practice some by wearing a funny hat in public. It’s hilarious how people go around with half shaved Skrillex haircuts, purple hitler hair, piercings, lumberjack beards, and pants that showcase their HooHah but the minute you wear a funny hat YOU’RE THE FREAK!

This too is its own tribalism.

I suppose I should explain how exactly wearing a funny hat is ‘social courage.’ People give you shitty looks. This makes you uncomfortable. You start to question yourself. If you’re used to doing this then you will have less trouble having necessary but difficult conversations.

Aright, well there we have it there was some synopsis that happened there.

Hope ya enjoyed.

Cheers!

Communication at UPS – Should I File A Grievance (Vlog)

This video is about my recent experience as a preloader. If you came here looking for advice on filing a grievance click this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPHjXmLobfE . I’m just here to lay out some concerns peculiar to my hub in the interest of promoting communication and on a personal note to vent a bit.

I’ve held the position for two years. This is my third peak as I started in December of 2017. I believe that what one of my full time supervisors asked me to do today was in violation of Past Practice. I learned that term after I made this video. But I’m glad that my ideas (if I understood the concept correctly/there is no fine print) about something being amiss were legitimized.

We have had three injuries in my hub this year, if I’m not mistaken. Sure you could say that’s because some of our employees are sub-par. But as someone who has been here for two years I’d say that’s definitely not the whole of the story. The management style and company culture is severely compromised by corporate pressure.
I understand the need to profit. But I think that UPS has had a wide enough margin that this corner cutting, union dodging, irrational authoritarianism is not only unnecessary (it never is) but compromises the ability to perform the job safely.

It is just a few days shy of Christmas, meaning that we have already worked a good portion of peak season, does it make sense to approach an employee at the end of the shift and tell them to rescan all the packages on the trucks because of an alleged misload registration. Especially if the misloads are not misloads as admitted by management? Especially if there was no prior practice of manually scanning out of the trucks? Especially if the supervisors do not do it and the employees do not do it.

There are further details of counterproductive and arguably abusive practices in the video. I will likely follow up in the near future as I get a better handle on the situation.

Neither my coworkers nor I should have to work under these conditions.

Most of these pricks are my age. Which means in ten years they’ll displace the degenerate gen X flannel brigade that spawned them in the billion Subarus that litter the suburban wastes like taunting oriental trophies that won’t let us forget the death of Detroit. I’d say repent. But it’s too late and I have a latte to buy.

Of Men and the Blues – Why are NORMAL EMOTIONS described as “Being Vulnerable” by culture and academics?

You see this ‘get in touch with your feelings thing’ everywhere. From cheesy romantic comedies to academic journals. It’s been all the rage for decades yet the demographic most at risk for depression and suicide seems to be having a tougher time. Isn’t there some sort of sayin’ about the definition of insanity?

TL;DR version of the Video

Emo Dudes – Men Face Depression and Suicide at High Rates – Dumb Reasons Given By Shrinks and your nutty Aunt Gertrude

1) They are not comfortable with being vulnerable.

– Why are normal human emotions considered vulnerability and couched in agency robbing terms? Terms that carry a stigma. Especially when applied to men by either sex. This is almost a subtle subconscious dominance game played by academics and well meaning Oprah viewers.

2) Mechanization has led to the loss of jobs ergo depression sets in.

– Definitely a factor. But, is it the expectation to have a lucrative job rather than doing useful or artistic things that’s more the cause? And isn’t there a wider psychological consequence to mechanization via giving people a lot less to do. Thus allowing for lethargy and stagnation to increase. Especially in light of the dim view the culture has of intellectual rigor, high art, and craftsmanship for it’s own sake rather than a bottom line to be “SUCCESSFUL.”

3) We need to “update masculinity” to solve the problem of male suicide.

So the answer to a really complex sociological problem is merely changing the packaging on an semi-arbitrary concept?
